Background Information
The Eden Cooperative Nursery School was started in the mid 1960's as a not for profit nursery school that provides a preschool program for children ages two, three and four. We have approximately 40 children enrolled and we draw from many towns including Eden, North Collins, Evans, Boston, Colden, Hamburg and occasionally from Springville. We have a New York State certified teacher and one Teacher's Aide.
What is a Cooperative Nursery School?
The Eden Cooperative Nursery School is one that is owned and controlled equally by the people who use its services. What that means is that parents sending their children to the school are considered owners of the school and have voting power within the school. In addition to voting power, the parents have a responsibility and obligation to help keep the school running smoothly by participating through the school year. Participation comes in the form of signing up as Parent of the Day, attending parent meetings, making suggestions for improvements, and participating in fund raising and field trip events. The school has thrived for over four decades because of the input and involvement of parents.
A Board of Directors is in place to oversee the operations of the Nursery School. This Board meets once a month to review monthly activities while a smaller Executive Board is responsible for financial decisions within the school. All parents are invited to attend the Board meetings and are encouraged to voice their ideas regularly.
Our Teachers
Miss Lindsi is responsible for teaching all of the current classes. She is a New York State certified teacher and started teaching at the Co-op in 2007. She has also completed her Montessori Teacher Training with the Buffalo Montessori Teacher Training Program.
Our teacher's aide, Mrs. Bromley, is responsible for supporting the curriculum taught by Miss Lindsi. In addition, Mrs. Bromley is a wonderful support to our children by teaching and modeling the skills and behaviors nurtured at the school. Mrs. Bromley started at the Co-op in 2005.

Recent Changes and Updates
The building that the Co-op occupies was originally built in 1919 as the Town of Eden's Catholic Church. When a new Catholic church was built, the Co-op was able to take over the old building and convert it into a school. We have no affiliation with the Catholic Church. In 1989, the Eden Co-op was able to purchase the building and over the past three years, numerous renovations have taken place. A new playground was built in 2006 with grant funds from the Eden Community Foundation. In 2007, the Community Foundation again provided us with funds to replace part of our roof. The building was outfitted with new windows in 2008 with money secured by Assemblyman Jack Quinn's office and a grant from the Brighter Future Fund set up by Chris Collins. The interior of the building was painted, the furniture reorganized and the curriculum restructured to better meet prekindergarten initiatives. At present, five computers have been donated from the Eden Library and we're in the process of setting up a computer lab to introduce basic computer skills to our children.
